Innovation to serve dynamic markets

Providing cutting-edge products is one of the core components of Mondi’s business strategy. In the past, the flexible materials business had its R&D experts located at the production sites. The new centre pools those resources and makes the combined know-how available to various business units within the group. Consequently, one of the most important tasks of the R&D team at Korneuburg will be to cooperate with customers to develop packaging solutions that appeal to the end-consumer at the POS and improve the handling of the product.

Equipment to develop and monitor

The new centre has two laboratories (analytical lab and applications lab), both of which have the very latest equipment. Apart from analysing new materials, the laboratories also are used for quality assurance for the group’s production plants. An important aspect is to ensure from the very beginning that all materials used comply with relevant regulations such as food safety and environmental legislation.
