Environmental performance

Our environmental strategy is aimed at increasing the overall efficiency of our production processes to achieve our goal of clean production, and is focused on three critical areas: emissions to air, emissions to water and disposal of waste.

To this end, we identify, manage and mitigate our impacts on the environment through our operational standard on environmental impacts. Accountability for environmental policies, processes and practices is assured at every significant level of our business through the DLC sustainable development committee, the DLC executive committee, and the environmental network. The environmental network, comprising important environmental representatives from across the Group, develops and shares good practice trends, ensuring Mondi’s compliance and addressing any shortcomings.

Environmental issues are integrated into Group and operational strategies and plans. Operations are required to develop and implement environmental programmes and procedures aligned to the Mondi operating standards and performance requirements and the Mondi management standards. Resources, training, education, consultation and auditing functions are provided at a Group level to ensure compliance with environmental legislation and other requirements to which we subscribe.
