Social responsibility
Because we’re committed to ensuring our employees and the communities where we operate gain economic and social advantages from our activities, an ongoing priority for us is to constantly examine our employment and community standards to ensure they meet best practice.
Mondi has experienced very rapid growth in recent years, with operations in many countries across the world. This makes it particularly important that we enable our people who live and work in transitional economies grasp every opportunity to compete effectively in global markets.
An important part of this work involves using Socio-Economic Assessment Toolbox (SEAT) assessments, which give us the understanding of our communities that we need in order to focus on the development of talent, opportunity and diversity in our organisation.
We have joined many of our customers and civil society organisations in supporting the ten principles of the United Nations Global Compact. The Global Compact is a voluntary corporate citizenship initiative of members that seek to uphold and enact internationally accepted values in the areas of human rights, labour standards, the environment and anti-corruption.
By way of its signatory status, Mondi also subscribes to the Universal Declaration on Human Rights and the voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights.
