FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
General usage
Paper lives. It is a valuable special product that reacts continually with its enviroment.
Therefore the following points should be noted when handling paper:
Office Paper
- Paper should be stored at a cool to room temperature, not damp and not outside.
- Paper should only be kept in closed cartons.
- For acclimatisation reasons place paper in its original packaging next to your copier and laser printer.
- Unpack only the required amount and avoid leaving packs open.
- Take note of the paper inlay arrow on the ream: this indicates the first copy or printing side.
- When problems arise use paper packed in its original packaging for comparison.
Pre-Print
- The front side of the form should be printed first and must be on the sieve side (sieve side is the ream sealing side). For reels, the sieve side is marked.
- Store packed paper for at least 24 hours before usage in the printing room, so that the temperatures align.
- Paper should only be removed from the protective packaging shortly before printing.
- After printing or cutting, wrap the paper immediately with an moisture- and air-proof wrapper, so that the paper cannot absorb moisture.
- Ensure as low a relative humidity as possible during offset printing. After printing, the paper’s relative humidity contentmay not exceed 40%.
- The relative humidity pH value should lie between 5.2 and 5.7.
- Use laser-compatible thermo resistant (heal resistant) colours.
- Before copying or laser printing, ensure that the colours are completely dry.
- Take care to ensure a clean and dust-free cut and wherever possible avoid cutting against the grain.
Offset-Printing
- Ensure as low a humidity regulation as possible during offset printing.
- The relative humidity pH value should lie between 5.2 and 5.7.
- Take care to ensure a clean and dust-free sut and wherever possible avoid cutting against the grain.
- Offset papers from Mondi meet all standard finishing requirements, including stamping and embossing.
