FSC stands for "Forest Stewardship Council", one of the most important international certification systems for forest management. The FSC logo allows consumers to recognise products that are manufactured from wood raw materials originating from well-managed forests, which are independently certified according to wide range of internationally recognised social, economic and environmental standards.
The certification marks the protection of not only woodland and its biodiversity, but also of the livelihood and longterm well-being of local forest communities. Our forests in South Africa were awarded full FSC certification in the 1990s. The FSC certification of 1.16 million hectares of our leased forests in Russia in March 2006 represented a milestone in our forest management programme and won us the WWF’s prestigious Panda Award for the second time.
Our sustainability philosophy embraces all aspects of the paper manufacturing process. That is why we also expect our suppliers of raw materials to place sustainability at the heart of their business. Certification according to the CoC (Chain of Custody) system, such as FSC and PEFC, is a central criteria for the selection of our partners.
This guarantees that every step in the paper-manufacturing process can be traced, from the harvesting of the forestry product to its transport, processing and distribution.
Color Copy was the world’s first FSC certified colour laser paper.
