Microwave steam cooking - The healthy way

A leading UK food and drink research company identified that steaming in the microwave is the healthiest way of cooking.

Steaming in the microwave has these important advantages:

  • Short cooking time preserves vitamins and minerals
  • It allows maximum retention of flavour, colour and texture
  • Optimal convenience and food safety are offered

With regards to the growing trend of healthier living and eating of consumers, these findings are of major importance.

Further research was able to quantify these benefits.

The  graph  below  shows  the difference between microwave steam cooking and traditional cooking, for selected vegetables, with respect to Vitamin C retention. The figures speak for themselves: in some cases microwave steam cooking preserves nearly twice as much        vitamin C as other traditional cooking methods.
