Mondi presented its re-launch of the BIO TOP 3® product family and Nautilus® at the Paperworld 2010 in Frankfurt

BIO TOP 3® and Nautilus® reflect important industry trends for high environmental performance and classic elegance in digial printing and 100% recycled papers.

Mondi, a global leader in manufacturing paper and packaging products, received positive feedback and enthusiasm over its recent presentation of BIO TOP 3® and Nautilus® at this year’s Paperworld trade fair. The re-launch focused on the development of sustainable products and the expansion of BIO TOP 3® and Nautilus®product portfolios.
As part of the re-launch Mondi hosted a customer event on 1st February, attended by over 250 international guests, ranging from merchants, Office Service Retailers (OSRs), Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), and direct customers. The event was a fun opportunity for customers to relax and socialize after a day of interesting discussions and product information sessions.

“We received a lot of positive feedback about Nautilus®at this year’s Paperworld,” enthused Wolfgang Kropiunik, Mondi’s Head of Marketing for Uncoated Fine Paper. “Our customers appreciate the products’ versatility in that it offers a great deal of choice — a grammage range, from 70 gsm–250 gsm, and a selection of formats that includes typical A4/A3 office sizes, folio, and reels. People take an interest in Nautilus® because it is an attractive option for both office users and professional printers,”  Nautilus®, Mondi’s brand of 100% recycled office- and printing-papers, is now available in 3 different whiteness levels as Nautilus® SuperWhite, Classic and Universal. According to Kropiunik, customers also noted a change in the design of Nautilus® packaging, with a brighter more eye-catching snail logo.

“Environmentally conscious customers can use Nautilus® as an eco-friendly paper for any printing technology such as inkjet-, laser- or offset-printing”, says Johannes Klumpp, Sales & Marketing Director Mondi Uncoated Fine Paper. “According to the WWF Guide to Buying Paper,” continues Klumpp, “the purchase of 100% recycled paper is the best choice. With Nautilus® every buyer now has this choice as it combines high quality paper with a high environmental performance”.

Mondi was already well ahead of its time in terms of environmental performance when it introduced BIO TOP 3® in 1989 as the first chlorine-free bleached paper. The BIO TOP3® product family now includes BIO TOP 3® digiprint — specifically produced for digital machines, such as those used for ‘book-on-demand’ printing. BIO TOP 3® digiprint has an ideal off-white shade and opacity for digital book printing and is available in a wide assortment of digital formats.

To mark the brand re-launch, the BIO TOP3® packaging was redesigned and a new swatch book with the tagline “An All Time Classic” has been issued throughout Europe. The swatch book provides an illustrative history of select designer chairs renowned for their enduring appeal. “After 21 successful years on the market, BIO TOP 3® has proven that it still has the necessary classic yet stylish look for the entire corporate image product portfolio. And with all the BIO TOP 3® environmental certifications, we offer an excellent product that combines style, quality and environmental awareness,” explains Kropiunik.

Both Nautilus® and BIO TOP 3® are part of Mondi’s Green Range family — a product range that comprises all Mondi papers with a focus on environmental sustainability. The Green Range includes papers from FSC™ (Forest Stewardship Council™) certified forests, papers bleached without chlorine, or 100% recycled papers. Green Range products, such as BIO TOP 3® extra, demonstrate Mondi’s commitment to sustainable development with accredited certifications from the EU Flower, the Life Cycle Assessment and the NEN 2728 ageing resistance.

All Nautilus® paper bears the EU Flower certification, which provides customers with visible proof that the production of Nautilus® is less harmful than that of other comparable products. Nautilus® Classic and Nautilus® Universal will additionally be certified with the “Blue Angel” — the German environmental certificate with the strictest rules for recycled papers. The high-whiteness Nautilus® SuperWhite bears the “FSC™ Recycled” certificate guaranteeing a high percentage of post consumer waste in the product. Nautilus® is produced in the Mondi Neusiedler paper mill located in Lower Austria. The mill is renowned for its high quality products and has an excellent track record in terms of environmental protection. Mondi Neusiedler is working with an environmental management and audit system verified under the strict ISO 14001:2004 norm. Customers can find additional useful information on the back of each Nautilus® pack, explaining the advantages of the paper and the eco-certifications.

The successful re-launch of the new Nautilus® qualities and BIO TOP 3® digiprint at Paperworld 2010 marked a continuation in Mondi’s achievements as a leader in environmental sustainability and product innovation.
