Mondi showcases its uncoated fine paper portfolio at Paperex in New Dehli, India, December 10-13th

At Paperex Booth-310 in Hall-3, highlights include Mondi’s HP indigo approved uncoated papers for the professional digital printing market and creative industries.

Mondi, the global manufacturer of paper and packaging, will participate in the upcoming Paperex trade fair in New Dehli. After a successful roadshow throughout India this past August together with local partner MEPCo Gulf, Mondi will introduce its uncoated digital paper portfolio including its HP Indigo approved papers to the broader Indian market at Paperex in December.

“This August we visited several printers in India to explain and demonstrate the features of our brands, particularly our HP Indigo approved papers Color Copy indigo, DNS® indigo, NAUTILUS® SuperWhite, NAUTILUS® Universal and BIO TOP 3® next,” says Johannes Klumpp, Marketing and Sales Director for Mondi Uncoated Fine Paper. “We received very good feedback based on the versatility of these papers for print applications and on the natural texture and appearance of uncoated fine papers.”

As a result of the roadshow, paper distributors Sun Fine Paper in Mumbai and NV Paper Products in Chennai have teamed up with Mondi to include Mondi uncoated fine paper in their portfolios.  Neeraj Gupta of NV Paper Products explains, “We decided to carry Mondi HP Indigo papers to offer our customers different surface finishes, a unique print result and an alternative to coated papers. Professional printing paper in India is typically coated, but we see an interest and a demand for uncoated papers.”

The receptiveness of India’s paper market to uncoated paper was echoed by Pratik Shah, director of Sun Fine Paper.  According to Mr Shah, digital printing is being rapidly integrated into the market and as a result there is a demand for paper specially developed for digital technology.  “We saw the need to expand our portfolio to include papers that are compatible with digital technology like HP Indigo machines,” says Mr Shah.
Mondi distinguishes its HP Indigo approved papers according to HP’s 3-star certification and HP Indigo SPP certification. Color Copy indigo and DNS® indigo received HP’s 3-star certification, which is the highest performance rating for HP Indigo digital presses and indicates the best performance in terms of runnability, fixing and blanket compatibility. These papers are produced with a special primer that guarantees 100% ElectroInk adhesion. The layer of the ElectroInk is much thinner in comparison to other digital inks, which leaves the natural haptics of the paper intact – much like the offset lithographic process. An additional advantage of the primed paper is its unlimited shelf-life, which guarantees printers and their customers print products that will maintain their original paper shade over time.

Considering the distinct features of Color Copy indigo and DNS® indigo, HP recognised their suitability for particular applications. Color Copy indigo is a smooth, premium paper that delivers high-quality full-colour print results, which HP recommends for photo book applications. The high whiteness level and bulk of DNS® indigo makes it particularly well-suited for high contrast text, graphics and colour printing on HP Indigo presses. Because of the contrasts possible with DNS® indigo, HP recommends it for high impact communication such as point of sale material, corporate stationery, company reports and brochures.

Mondi papers with HP Indigo SPP certification include 100% recycled papers NAUTILUS® SuperWhite and NAUTILUS® Universal and the new natural white paper BIO TOP 3® next, which does not contain any optical brightening agents. HP Indigo SPP certification applies to uncoated products without a primed surface treatment and is based heavily on the runnability and blanket compatibility of paper. This certification is a significant benchmark for light colour and monochrome printing, key factors to consider in industries like publishing and such applications as transactional invoicing. Moreover, there is a cost advantage for customers who want the reassurance of a quality guarantee from a reputable OEM (original equipment manufacturer) for an unprimed paper.

Mondi’s complete digital printing portfolio is part of the company’s Green Range papers that are FSC® or PEFC™ certified, bleached without chlorine, or 100% recycled.
