Why do you need a high-speed inkjet optimised paper?

High-speed inkjet printing comes with several challenges for the paper. Firstly, the printing speed is up to 30x faster than on conventional digital machines. Secondly, the aqueous (water based) inks need to be absorbed by the paper. The combination of these factors means the high-speed absorption of ink. This leads to an unprecedented intensity of interaction of paper and printing technology. Non-inkjet optimised paper grades typically fail to meet the high requirements of high-speed inkjet printing and deliver poor print results in terms of image quality and runnability.
