Marketing Trainee at Mondi UFP
I started in summer 2019 as an intern for 2 months in the Marketing and Communication department in the Business Unit "Consumer Packaging". I was lucky to work with an amazing team. Later I looked for a part time job whilst studying my Masters and HR supported me in finding a different opportunity at Mondi. I changed to the Uncoated Fine Paper (UFP) Business Unit and worked as a team assistant for back office and Brand Activation. I got to learn what UFP is all about. Just last year, I changed again and started as the marketing trainee at Mondi UFP in autumn 2021, right after handing in my master thesis.
I came across Mondi by … looking for a summer internship on LinkedIn. But I know Mondi from Slovakia, as there is a Mondi SCP mill in Ruzomberok. Funnily enough my mum actually worked there as an intern in her university times where she studied chemical engineering – wood and cellulose.
What I like most about Mondi is … learning everyday from the experienced colleagues who know exactly what they are doing and talking about.
When joining Mondi, I would have never thought that ... to make a project reality, a success, so many people need to be involved and aligned. And only if all people are on the same page and have the same purpose, they can reach what they want.
What I like most about my role/job … possibility to try things I never did before, to make mistakes, and learn from them. I am switching teams so it allows me to get insight into different parts of marketing and different spheres of the paper business. Now I am working with a wonderful premium design paper brand Pergraphica and organizing events focused on sustainability.
If my family asks me what my job is about, I explain … I work with paper, do the marketing that I studied, and every day is a bit different.
My greatest challenge so far has been … familiarizing myself with the processes and roles of people, getting into new projects, working in two teams at once and leading two big projects at once.
The best advice I ever got was … Know your stakeholders, Linda!
My future career path leads me to … during the traineeship I am trying to find myself, to discover what I enjoy but also what I do not want to do. So I am open to what the future will bring.
