Communications & Training Manager
What’s your job at Mondi and where do you work?
I am a Communications & Training Manager at Uncoated Fine Paper in the Vienna office. This role does not relate to PR but to how we communicate with our customers and amongst each other. I provide trainings for that, so for example on Mondi’s tone-of-voice or how to give feedback.
What did you study or do before you joined Mondi?
A long time ago I studied Economics in Germany, where I was born. Then I spent several years in marketing and sales positions at Unilever and in an Austrian mid-sized company in the food equipment industry. Here I served as Managing Director, building up the export business from 35 to over 70 countries. Ten years ago, I took some time out, running my own business as a wine trader and co-owner of a winery in south Burgenland.
When did you start working for Mondi?
I started working for Mondi in June 2012, following the fastest recruiting process ever – 2 weeks after my first interview with the recruitment company, we signed the contract.
Did you have a different role at Mondi earlier?
When I started at Uncoated Fine Paper, I had the chance to learn a lot about the paper industry and Mondi in Market Intelligence. Two years later, I jumped at the opportunity to lead the Marketing team. My 30+ years’ experience then led me to my current role, in which I can pass on my expertise and support all teams within UFP in customer centric communication and behaviour. With the identification of the UFP brand promise, I can help each colleague to understand his or her personal impact on what customers think and feel about Mondi.
What do you like most about working at Mondi
What I really like about Mondi is that I could experience these three very different roles within UFP. Entrepreneurial spirit is welcome and everyone can actively contribute. I owe my bosses a lot for giving me so much freedom and trusting me to do what I am doing.
What are your colleagues like?
In the Marketing-Sales-Supply Chain we are a great team with a collaborative and dynamic spirit. Every time I visit one of our mills, I feel welcome, even if I have not been there for a while.
What is your secret talent?
Not sure if this is a secret, but many people like to listen to me when I am on stage presenting or moderating a conference – which I really enjoy. I do like the limelight.
What’s your dream job?
All my previous jobs were my dream jobs. However, I want to keep growing. Currently I am looking into the UFP employee experience journey, so let’s see what happens next.
How do you like to spend your free time?
I love to be in my garden or out in nature. With my husband, we spend most of our time around the Neusiedler Lake, where we live, riding bikes or Nordic walking. We enjoy summer weekends on the lake with our sailing boat.
What matters most to you?
I value trust, honesty and fairness.
