Operations Manager

Fibre Packaging, Industrial bags (Fibre Packaging), Production / Operations, USA

Your responsibilities:

  • converting and maintenance departments. Major areas of responsibility include achieving objectives in:  Safety, Productivity, Waste, Housekeeping, Appropriate Areas of Compliance, Training, Direct Labor Costs, Maintenance Programs and other assigned objectives

  • Develop and implement continuous manufacturing process improvements that decrease cost and improve efficiency

  • Improve maintenance programs and machine reliability and OEE

  • Demonstrate and teach effective leadership skills; manage, direct, lead and accurately evaluate direct reports and assist with evaluation of hourly workforce as needed.

  • Motivate and coach direct reports, assisting them in managing, coaching and motivating hourly workforce toward achievement of objectives.

  • Ensure all plant productivity, quality and safety goals are achieved and process and procedures are followed

  • Assist Managing Director with planning, budgeting and other operational processes

  • Assist with administrative issues in department (schedules, discipline & rewards, training, planning, capital spending, reporting, compliance, etc.)

  • Evaluate operational processes continually and propose and justify improvements to MD

  • Work with other departments and teams as needed to facilitate overall operational improvements

  • Support Lean/ Six Sigma and 5S efforts

  • Other responsibilities as assigned

  • This position is responsible for directing production supervisors, plant personnel and support staff to exceed the Company’s goals regarding safety, quality, continuous improvement, production and financial results.

  • This position will directly supervise the Maintenance and converting department including the Maintenance Manager,  three (3) Supervisors and an estimated hourly workforce of fifty five (55) employees across a 5 day 24 hours flexible packaging production facility.

  • The primary mission is to guarantee that only the highest quality products are delivered to our customer.

  • Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  • Critical thinking and analytical skills to evaluate performance metrics and outcomes and to constructively resolve challenges.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs; ability to lead, motivate and influence others towards change.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to develop, and conduct training on complex topics in a concise manner, appropriate to the audience.

  • Effective interpersonal skills for interacting with people at various levels of the organization and in a variety of functions.

  • Broad understanding of business issues, metrics, organizational linkages, and customer value.

  • Self-confident, ability to accept and respond to challenges in a positive manner.

  • Ability to travel as required, domestic and international


English - Fluent


Bachelor's degree in Business, engineering or other applicable field


  • Minimum of 5 years managing a plant environment

  • Pervious experience managing a packaging plant, converting or other flexible packaging experience or similar manufacturing environment preferred.

  • 5-7 years of experience leading a maintenance team and developing maintenance programs required.


Ability to complete the HACCP course and have SQF practitioner training.
