Process Engineer

Consumer Packaging, Engineering / Maintenance, USA


Summary:  The Process Engineer manages process improvements in support of site safety, waste, quality, and productivity performance.  He/she routinely completes and assists with continuous improvement projects as identified or assigned for cost reduction and/or increasing product value.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Support manufacturing and maintenance personnel as needed to resolve process, quality and machine issues
  • Use statistical tools (design of experiments, process capability review) on process and product data to develop and maintain centerlines
  • Maintain process control database
  • Source new tooling and equipment; oversee installation
  • C-BUM champion for assigned area
  • Perform risk-assessment and management of change for new processes / machinery
  • Recommend machine improvements or replacements based on data and experience (capital or expense items)
  • Support manufacturing personnel in identifying root cause and developing corrective/preventative actions associated with both customer and internal complaints
  • Assist with training production and maintenance employees on equipment use and function
  • Support the commercialization of new products, processes and equipment
  • Assist in the development of Work Instructions (WI)
  • Travel to customer and supplier sites as needed
  • Other duties as assigned 

Our requirements:

  • Computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS-Project, AutoCAD)
  • Competence in use of statistics & statistically designed experiments (DOE)
  • Familiar with 24 x 7 manufacturing environment/requirements
  • Six Sigma/Lean certification a plus


Fluent in English (Written, Reading, Speaking)


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline
  • Project management certification desired


  • 5-10 years of pervious engineering experience in manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience with web handling and converting processes, coating background strongly desired
  • Previous experience in process improvement implementation (quality, output, efficiency, utilization, scrap reduction)
  • Previous experience working with integrating electrical and mechanical systems a plus
  • PLC experience (Siemens, Allen-Bradley) is a plus
  • Previous experience working in a regulated environment (ISO, GMP) preferred
