Tax Specialist for VAT Compliance (f/m)

Finance / Procurement, Uncoated Fine Paper, Austria

Your responsibilities:

  • acting as a specialist in European VAT & Intrastat compliance for a company with VAT registrations in all 28 EU member states
  • monitoring the company’s compliance process and also improving and setting up new VAT compliance guidelines
  • EU VAT & Intrastat data management within SAP, including checking & extraction of data, checking of VAT returns and Intrastat reports, approval and filing of returns, initiating VAT payments
  • supervision of external and internal stakeholders engaged in the preparation of EU VAT returns, Intrastat reports, packaging waste disposal fee reports and other mandatory periodic reports
  • submission of data as well as providing feedback to local tax accountants
  • strong collaboration with IT in order to make sure ERP system (SAP) meets all fiscal requirements, i.e. creation & testing of change requests regarding invoice layout, VAT logic, VAT number logic, exchange rate, booking, archiving, reporting, etc.
  • maintenance of SAP VAT determination logic
  • supporting and leading the development of new reporting, accounting and tax tools
  • collaboration with sales, logistics, accounting, IT and other stakeholders
  • support with audit requests

Our requirements:

  • good VAT knowledge
  • strong interest in IT-related topics and collaboration in technical solutions
  • excellent MS Excel skills (pivot, VLookup, macro, etc.)
  • SAP/Business Objects knowhow advantageous
  • knowledge of European tax standards and regulations


Excellent command of English and German, any other language is an advantage


University degree either in business administration with a specialisation in tax law or in (business) information systems


  • ideally at least one year of professional experience as a (junior) consultant at a tax advisory company or as a tax specialist with an international company
  • experience in working in a matrix organisation with several legal entities and stakeholders


  • ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time
  • communicative and open-minded personality
  • strong team player with a proactive work attitude
  • responsible, accurate and due-date oriented
