Mondi, the international packaging and paper Group, recorded a 30% increase in the number of visitors to its booth at this year’s FachPack trade fair in Nuremberg. Customers, prospective customers, suppliers and other interested visitors totalled nearly 900 over the three-day fair from 27-29 September. Of those, a huge number were first-time contacts for Mondi, showing the importance of trade fairs for reaching a large number of new business contacts and potential customers.

Capping off this year’s success, Mondi’s Consumer Goods Packaging business won a German Packaging Award at FachPack for its ArtPack packaging for Krosse Kerle potato crisps. “We were in search of the perfect packaging, and it was especially important to us that our high-quality potato crisps should arrive at the customer crispy and crunchy, as though straight from the oven. We were also looking for a packaging design that would optimally express the close-to-nature production concept of these very special crunchy potato crisps. Mondi’s ArtPack is just what we were looking for,” explains Thomas Lieske, head of marketing and sales, Johanning Snack

Mondi’s prominent and eye-catching booth – measuring 376 m2, the size of a house – was designed around a theme of ‘fresh ideas for packaging and paper’. It highlighted Mondi’s consistent customer focus, ongoing product innovation and focus on sustainability. In addition to displaying its latest products and services, Mondi provided information about its new “Growing Responsibly” model, which illustrates how it is responding to global challenges and their local consequences across the value chain.

At FachPack Mondi exhibited a wide range of innovative products – from corrugated packaging with live demonstrations, to a variety of packaging papers from its Advantage line of products, easy-open solutions for consumer goods packaging, water soluble film, and much more. For the first time, a corner was dedicated to Mondi’s specialised offer for automotive industry customers – from state-of-the art corrugated packaging and industrial protector bags to extrusion-coated multilayer complexes. The company also hosted well-attended workshops about the Mondi R&D Print Competence Centre and how it combines expertise in paper and printing technology to obtain the best results for customers.

To celebrate the recent acquisition of a business in Turkey specialised in ice cream packaging products, Mondi gave FachPack guests around 2,000 scoops of ice cream wrapped in paper sleeves produced by the new Mondi Kalenobel.
