Overview

The Hot Lock Bag® is an open mouth paper bag that allows the filler clean and easy closure of the bag without handling of additional items such as threads for sewing or adhesive strips.

At the top of the bag hot melt is applied during bag production which allows optimal closure of the bag after filling through reactivation of the hot melt in the filling process. The bottom of the bag has a standard cross bottom shape, thus providing more stability during transportation of the bag in the packaging line. Furthermore, it gives better stacking of the filled bags on the pallet.

The high demands on hygienic filling and closing imposed by the filling products make Mondi's Hot Lock Bag® the ideal solution for food, pharmaceutical and chemical ingredients. The bags are produced under strict food contact certified conditions, are mainly used with PE-inliner and are geared to be used with high end packaging lines.

  • Clean and easy closure: The strip of hot melt coating, applied during bag production, guarantees a sift-proof solid pinch closure after simply reactivating it by heat after filling.
  • Food safe packaging:The hot melt adhesive used for Hot Lock Bags® is FDA (Food and Drug Administration) approved, a special application method ensures that the strip of hot melt coating remains tight and intact while handling and helps guarantee hygiene in food stuffs processing environments. In addition, the easy tear-open design prevents contamination by paper particles during bag opening. The Hot Lock Bags® are produced under strict HACCP and BRC/IoP-certified conditions.
  • All-in closure component: Since the closure component is already integrated in the Hot Lock Bag® costs can be saved. As no additional material or devices are required, the need for procurement and warehousing can be reduced.
  • Smooth processing: The cross bottom shape improves stability of the bag during transport along the packaging line and ensures compact stackability on the pallet.
  • Easy-open standard: Hot Lock Bags® are normally produced with a tear-off bottom permitting quick access to the bag contents and functional separation of the PE-inliner from the paper bag without the need for tools.
