WBCSD (World Business Council for Sustainable Development) launched its sixth edition of Reporting matters – an annual review of member company sustainability reports – in partnership with Radley Yeldar spanning 158 leading companies from more than 17 supersectors and 31 countries. Mondi’s Sustainability Report 2017 was included in the top performers for 2018 and Mondi’s reporting on sustainability governance is highlighted as an example of best practice. The publication notes Mondi’s concise graphical representation of the governance structure for sustainability issues, various levels in which sustainable development issues are guided and monitored, how it provides narrative on key topics discussed by the board with outcomes, and how health and safety performance are integrated into senior management’s bonus schemes.
In advance of this year’s FT Water Summit, Viv McMenamin, CEO, Mondi South Africa, and Morné du Plessis, CEO, WWF South Africa, remind us that water risk and stewardship is too complex a challenge and too great an opportunity to explore alone.
Mondi Group is a member of Climate Savers, WWF’s climate leadership programme for businesses. Having cut our CO2 emissions by 38% between 2004 and 2017, we have also committed ourselves to reducing specific production-related greenhouse gas emissions to 0.25 tonnes CO2e per tonne of production by 2050, in line with climate science targets to keep global temperature rises under 2°C.

Mondi is proud to confirm that this year, following an independent assessment according to the FTSE4Good criteria, it has once again satisfied the requirements to remain a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index Series.
The FTSE4Good indices are used by a wide variety of market participants to create and assess responsible investment funds and other products, and Mondi is proud of its continued inclusion in this Index Series since 2008.
WWF and Mondi Group launched a global strategic partnership in 2014, following many years of local collaboration, to promote responsible forestry, water stewardship and a sustainable packaging and paper sector.
In 2017, we extended our global partnership by another three years to build on progress made in the first phase.
