Your mission:

Reporting to the Electrical and Instrumentation Supervisor, the Electrician will be a key player in a company-wide continuous improvement effort through daily use of predictive and preventative maintenance strategies. The Electrician’s primary responsibility is installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment critical to the mill’s operations. This role ensures the continuous and safe functioning of electrical machinery and control systems to support efficient processes. 

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical components, wiring, control panels, VFD’s, and motors in compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance and diagnose electrical faults to minimize downtime and ensure equipment reliability.
  • Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to support daily operations and respond promptly to production calls during downtime.
  • Utilize computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to document work orders, update equipment databases, and schedule maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures specific to the pulp and paper industry.
  • Assist in the planning, procurement, and documentation for electrical and instrumentation maintenance projects.
  • Share technical knowledge and support training initiatives with other maintenance personnel.

Your profile:

  • A valid Alberta Electrician Certification and/or Interprovincial Red Seal Certification required. 
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in an industrial setting, preferably in pulp and paper, manufacturing or a related heavy industry.
  • Mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic knowledge and aptitude
  • Experience in an industrial environment with VFDs, PLCs, MCCs, HMIs
  • Experience with high voltage (600-23,000 volts)
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • The desire to progress, learn, grow and succeed
  • Working safely within the pulp mill
