This newly defined role will lead an integrated FTSE100 Corporate Affairs function, combining Public Affairs and Corporate Communications as part of the wider Group Communication team.  Reporting to the Group Communication & Corporate Affairs Director, and  w ith six direct reports, the role will focus on positioning Mondi as a global leader in sustainable packaging; enhancing EU advocacy; centralising media strategy; managing crisis, CEO and Exco communications; embedding digital tools and analytics; and driving operational discipline across the function.  

Your Mission:   

  • Define and own Mondi’s Corporate Affairs strategy, integrating corporate communications and public affairs to strengthen reputation, influence policy, and support business growth.  

  • Develop Mondi’s campaign and positioning strategy for external communication, ensuring consistent, integrated and impactful corporate content across all channels.  

  • Lead on Mondi’s media relations strategy, working with the wider team to ensure a fit-for-purpose approach with clear governance and objectives.  

  • Oversee crisis communications, M&A communications, and CEO communications,   ensuring coordinated, timely, and effective responses that protect and enhance Mondi’s reputation.

  • Drive the digital transformation of Corporate Affairs, embedding data, analytics, and AI tools to enhance communication impact, stakeholder insight, and team efficiency.  

  • Set the strategic direction and quality standards of Mondi’s annual reporting programme, including integrated and sustainability reports.  

  • Be accountable for the Mondi Communication Plan and key projects to strengthen alignment, storytelling and communication effectiveness across the Group.  

  • Parter with the Head of Public Affairs to oversee political and economic developments, assess implications for the business, and develop advocacy strategies policies as needed.  

  • Ensure robust crisis management and horizon scanning systems are in place.  

  • Lead the Group Corporate Affairs team   ensuring resources, budgets, and capabilities are focused on delivering measurable business and reputational impact  

  • Manage relationships with external agencies, suppliers, and partners, ensuring high-quality delivery and alignment with strategic priorities.  

Your Profile:  

  • Extensive experience in corporate affairs, communications, public affairs, and reputation management.  

  • Demonstrated success in leading integrated communication campaigns and influencing policy or legislation.  

  • Proven ability to build relationships with senior stakeholders, including policymakers, media, industry leaders, and external agencies.  

  • Strong knowledge of the political, media, and sustainability landscape, ideally within packaging, paper, or related sectors.  

  • Experience in crisis management, financial communications, and annual reporting for listed organisations.  

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.  

  • Strong organisational, management, and decision-making abilities; able to deliver results under pressure and to strict deadlines.  

  • Collaborative and empowering leadership style, with a focus on driving a culture of learning, agility and high performance.  

  • High level of discretion, integrity, and alignment with Mondi’s values.    

  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.  

  • German or other languages an additional asset.  

  • University  degree ( master’s  degree or equivalent) in   communications, public affairs, business, or related field.  

  • 10+ years’ experience in senior corporate communications and public affairs roles.  

  • Experience managing teams, external agencies, and complex projects.  

  • Track record of delivering impactful and measurable communication strategies and campaigns.  

  • Understanding of EU-level and European national regulatory landscapes  

  • Understanding corporate and sustainability reporting is highly desirable.  

  • Willingness  to travel if needed
