Role Summary
The primary purpose of this role is to partner with the Regional Managing Director and the Leadership Team of the Corrugated Solutions Central Europe (CE) region to drive lasting business success through a high-impact people, organisation and culture agenda. The region encompasses multiple sites predominately in Germany, including some recently acquired plants, and has more than 2,000 employees.
In addition, the role ensures consistency and alignment of HR practices across Mondi’s different business segments in Germany. In this role as HR People Partner Germany, the incumbent acts as first point of contact for the local HR community on country-specific HR matters, including labor relations, compliance, and the alignment of local practices with global programs and policies.
Your mission
- Provide leadership and expertise for the full scope of the HR client support for the Corrugated Solutions Central Europe region.
- Partner with the Regional Managing Director (MD) to drive both the long-term and short-term HR agenda that directly supports and enables business objectives leveraging key HR KPI’s operationalised through robust daily management in full alignment with Mondi’s People Strategy.
- Partner with the regional leadership team to activate and embed a contemporary organisational culture and leverage change acceleration techniques to assist in driving broad change.
- Act as an organisational & simplification champion who builds organisational capabilities, reduces complexity and partners with the Regional MD and the leadership team to maximise team performance.
- Strategically partner with the Regional MD and the leadership team to design and implement the most effective regional organisational structures and manage transitions including clarity of roles and responsibilities.
- Provide timely, effective and direct coaching to leaders, assisting in the development of strong, contemporary leadership skills.
- Provide strategic coaching to key talent across the CE region as it pertains to succession planning, career path development, and performance management.
- Lead succession planning and talent development strategies across the CE region, identifying critical roles and preparing potential talents.
- Lead the business and HR team through critical HR operating rhythms such as performance and talent management & development, salary planning and employee listening and engagement calendar as well as key focus areas as workforce planning, DE&I (diversity, equity and inclusion) etc.
- Functionally lead a team of local HR People Partners, delivering appropriate coaching, mentoring and development opportunities (including exposure to HR Business Partner skills and experiences), communicating proactively, and ensuring HR team engagement & retention.
- Manage labor and social partner relations in Germany in partnership with respective business leaders, including collective bargaining, union engagement and works council collaboration maintaining compliant and constructive industrial relations.
- Oversee country-level HR governance for Germany to ensure alignment and mitigate risk.
- Ensure global and regional HR programs & policies are consistently implemented, applied and legally compliant across the CE region and Germany, while adapting implementation to reflect local labor markets, regulations, and cultural contexts.
- Foster collaboration, knowledge-sharing and consistency among HR professionals across Germany. Provide coaching, mentoring, and a platform for alignment within the regional HR network.
- Partner closely with the HR Centers of Excellences (Talent Acquisition, Programs & Analytics, Talent and D&I, Total Rewards, HR Compliance) to drive a cohesive and aligned HR agenda across all key functional areas, ensuring integrated support and collaboration.
- Ensure all HR matters are handled fairly and consistently with local laws and regulations and our company compliance regulations.
Your Profile
- Master’s degree from an accredited university or college in a Human Resources related area.
- Minimum of 10 years of professional work experience in a client support HR role preferably in an industry environment, with 5 years in a HR client support leadership role.
- Strong combination of blend of strategic capabilities and a pragmatic, hands-on approach.
- Proven experience in works council cooperation / employee relations and sound knowledge of German labor law.
- Ability to effectively interface with senior leadership while connecting easily at all levels of the organisation.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to align HR priorities with broader business objectives.
- Developed (oral and written) communication and diplomacy skill set with the ability to influence others by presenting sound and logical arguments tailored to the audience.
- Self-starter who has a demonstrated ability to prioritise effectively and work independently while being able to effectively navigate and partner in a matrix environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to assess situations make judgments based on practice or previous experience.
- Coaching and leadership assessment experience.
- Ability to energise oneself and others working in changing environments, see through complexity and strategically promote an inclusive/diverse workforce.
- Strong presentation skills and facilitation experience, needed to effectively deliver a variety of HR-related training programmes to groups of leaders and experts
- Capable of handling multiple issues and/or projects simultaneously and executing to completion.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a demanding, high performance work environment and team-oriented culture.
- Excellent collaboration, influencing, project management, organisational and change-agent skills.
- Ability to energise and lead in complex, matrix, goal-driven organisations.
- Strong internal and external customer service focus, with a genuine desire to assist others.
- Passion for process improvement.
- 30-40 % travel required.
