Reporting to the Operations Director, the Kraft Mill Manager provides leadership and operational oversight for the Fibreline and Machine Room at the Mondi Hinton Inc. Pulp Mill. This role requires advanced technical expertise and a proven track record in delivering world-class safety performance, strong pulp production results, effective people leadership, and continuous improvement.

Your mission:

The successful candidate will lead safe, compliant, and high-performing Fibreline and Machine Room operations by delivering consistent pulp quality, developing people, and driving continuous improvement through strong cross-functional collaboration and operational excellence. 

  • Provide leadership and direction to approximately 70 operations and shift maintenance employees, including coordinators and superintendents
  • Ensure safe, compliant, and efficient Fibreline and Machine Room operations in accordance with health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
  • Accountable for production, quality, cost, and reliability performance across Digester, Brownstock, Chemical Preparation, Pulp Machine, and Warehouse
  • Coordinate production schedules and grade changes with Technical, Fibre Supply, and Logistics teams
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance asset performance, reduce downtime, and improve cost efficiency
  • Establish and monitor KPIs, investigate safety, environmental, quality, and production issues, and implement corrective actions
  • Develop and manage departmental operating, maintenance, and capital budgets
  • Collaborate with Maintenance, Power & Recovery, Engineering, and Site Services to maximize mill throughput and reliability
  • Support training, coaching, performance management, and succession planning for leaders and operators
  • Participate in hiring, disciplinary processes, and major capital or strategic initiatives impacting Kraft Mill operations

Your profile:

  • Post-secondary education in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • Progressive leadership experience in pulp mill or heavy industrial operations, with accountability for safety, production, maintenance, and reliability
  • Strong working knowledge of kraft pulping processes, fibreline operations, and pulp finishing
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams in a unionized industrial environment
  • Experience developing and managing operating, maintenance, and capital budgets, including long-range planning
  • Advanced knowledge of continuous improvement and reliability practices, including asset performance and maintenance planning
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex operational issues using data-driven analysis and sound decision-making
  • Strong safety leadership and risk-management mindset
  • Effective communicator with the ability to engage operators, supervisors, peers, and senior leadership
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and manage competing deadlines
  • Self-directed, accountable leader capable of working with minimal supervision and leading change
  • Strong computer systems aptitude; SAP experience is an asset
  • Valid driver’s license required
