Mondi retains its Net Zero commitment

Mondi retains its Net Zero commitment SBTi validates new baseline to reflect Mondi’s current operations.
Mondi recognises that as a business, we play a critical role in setting targets and innovating to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and help drive the transition to a low-carbon economy, thereby playing our part to tackle climate change. We continue to take committed steps to reduce our GHG emissions through improved efficiency as we reduce our energy use and deliver value through sustainable products and solutions.
We’re therefore proud to announce that the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has approved Mondi’s revised 2019 baseline for our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions targets. This update reflects changes in our scope of operations and reaffirms our commitment to science-based climate action.
Our ambitious targets remain unchanged1:
- Scope 1 and Scope 2: 46.2% reduction by 2030 from a 2019 baseline
- Scope 3: 27.5% reduction by 2030 from a 2019 baseline
- Reaching net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain by 2050
Our scope 1 & 2 targets are aligned with the global goal to limit global warming to 1.5°C.
The revised baseline includes the acquisitions of Duino, Hinton, and Schumacher and excludes Russian operations. This ensures our targets reflect the current structure of our business while maintaining the same level of ambition.
