Your mission:
The Lubrication Mechanic is responsible for ensuring the optimal lubrication, maintenance, and inspection of all rotating and mechanical equipment within the mill. This role supports preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and extend machinery life by applying best lubrication practices and troubleshooting lubrication-related issues.
- Perform routine lubrication tasks including greasing, oiling, and changing lubricants on pumps, motors, bearings, gearboxes, turbines, compressors, and other mill equipment according to established schedules and procedures.
- Inspect equipment for lubrication needs and identify potential mechanical issues related to lubrication.
- Using oil pumps and filtration units to circulate, filter and clean lubricant in various machinery.
- Monitor lubricant quality and levels, conduct oil sampling and analysis, and recommend adjustments or replacements based on condition monitoring results.
- Document all lubrication activities, including schedules, quantities of lubricants used, and equipment conditions in software such as SAP and Checkmate.
- Assist maintenance teams in troubleshooting and resolving lubrication-related equipment problems.
- Retrofit and modify lubrication systems as needed to improve reliability and ease of maintenance.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and environmental regulations while performing duties.
- Coordinate with operators and maintenance personnel to ensure lubrication tasks align with production schedules.
Your profile:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Preferred certification: Level 1 Machinery Lubrication Technician (MLT1) through the International Council for Machinery Lubrication (ICML), or Millwright.
- Completion or progress toward Level 2 Machinery Lubrication Technician (MLT2) certification is required for full-time employees.
- Previous experience in lubrication or maintenance within an industrial or pulp and paper mill environment is highly desirable.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with industrial lubrication equipment and systems.
- Ability to read and interpret maintenance schedules, lubrication charts, and equipment manuals.
- Good communication skills to effectively interact with team members and report findings.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.
- Physically capable of performing manual tasks including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces or at heights.
