Your mission:

  • Prepare and execute scheduled routine maintenance, in conjunction with production planning.
  • Lead proactive maintenance and eliminate reactive maintenance by suggesting/implementing effective preventive and predictive maintenance programmes
  • Support operations by providing effective equipment maintenance, ensuring equipment reliability and availability
  • Spares and inventory management
  • Control maintenance costs effectively and prevent as far as possible over expenditure
  • Demonstrate strong awareness of the OHS Act and Regulations thereof, and show a good understanding of safety standards and procedures, and ensure that all mechanical work complies with safety and operational standards
  • Participate in shut planning, execution, and coordination
  • Participate in preparing and coordinating scheduled routine maintenance
  • Managing tools, spares, and artisan resources to complete tasks efficiently
  • Lead proactive maintenance and eliminate reactive maintenance by suggesting/implementing preventive and predictive maintenance programmes
  • Develop, review and agree the daily/weekly maintenance plan with the Section Engineer and/or the Process team, where applicable
  • Oversee and supervise third-party contractor maintenance and compliance
  • Issue of work schedules and job cards
  • Oversee third party contractor maintenance and compliance
  • Issue job cards and maintenance work orders
  • Develop and send out RFQs, place orders, and liaise with third-party contractors and suppliers, ensuring that the Mondi RFQ procedure is adhered to
  • Review SAP maintenance schedules and ensure they are executed as required
  • Ensure work orders are closed out as required
  • Manage and supervise a team of artisans and riggers to ensure they are utilized effectively in the plant and in the workshop
  • Monitor performance & maintain high discipline in the team
  • Must ensure that all mechanical work complies with safety and operational standards
  • Must maintain high levels of cleanliness and housekeeping, and safe work area
  • Ensure all Mondi policies and procedures relating to maintenance, safety, risk assessment and procurement are adhered to

Your profile:

  • Matric plus N4 (Supervisory Management)​
  • Trade Tested as a Mechanical Fitter or Millwright
  • National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering would be advantageous​
  • 5 years of experience in working in the Power and Utilities operations within heavy industry
  • 1 year of leadership experience
  • Experience in a steam/power-generating plant
  • Experience working in a mechanical workshop
  • Experience within the Pulp & Paper industry and relevant equipment would be advantageous
