Your Mission

•  Reporting to the Safety Manager the incumbent will be responsible for spearheading the Safety programme in our Central Forestry Operations.

•  Ensure that Mondi and contractor personnel comply with safety legislation and Mondi’s safety requirements.

•  Facilitate meeting of safety criteria required for certification with external auditing bodies (FSC, PEFC and NOSA)

•  Facilitate and monitor compliance with legal requirements and Mondi standards.

•  Lead, coach and mentor Mondi and Contractor Safety Facilitators, and Health & Safety Reps.

•  Safety focused Contractor engagement

•  Deliver  Forest Operation Service Level Agreements

•  Deliver on Group leading and current indicators and co-ordination of all prescribed safety initiatives and campaigns.

•  Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment with the key focus on implementation of control measures that mitigate identified hazards and risks

•  Manage emergencies, incident reporting, incident investigations and incident reviews

•  Conduct Audits (FSC; PEFC; ISO; NOSA)

•  Monthly reporting and trending of incidents/close calls

•  Report on safety performance at monthly 1PA meetings

•  Participate in the FO Central Management meeting (Present safety performance overview)

Your Profile

•  National Diploma in Safety Management / Forestry or equivalent qualification

•  5 years Forestry experience preferably with strong safety focus

•  NOSA 5 Star Navigation,

•  NOSA / OHSAS 18001 Internal Auditor

•  Incident / Accident Investigation

•  Construction Regulations

•  First Aid – Level two

•  Knowledgeable on relevant OSH Act Legislation

•  Willing to travel and give after hours emergency support

•  Fluency in Zulu is preferable

•  Valid South African Driver’s License
