Johannes Lienbacher, Solution Engineer

Johannes, joined us as an intern in 2019 and is now responsible for internal communications platform.

We sat down with him to talk about his career journey so far. 

How did you across Mondi?

While still studying at the technical high school for Information Technology in Ybbs (Austria). I had my first internship here in the summer holidays of 2019.

What do you like most about working at Mondi?

The team. I am so happy to work with my great team. Luckily, every single time I came back to work for Mondi, I was (and am) part of the same great team in the same department. I also value the fact that I can study for my bachelor’s degree in Business Informatics, while working here.

Mondi produces so many different products...there's so much more behind every product than just the packaging.

What’s surprised you the most about Mondi?

Mondi produces so many different products. I had the pleasure to visit two different plants. You get to learn so much about the company and its values when you see the products and how they are produced. There's so much more behind every product than just the packaging.

What do you like most about your role?

Everyday I dig deeper into the information structure of our company. So many different parts secure the daily business at Mondi and every day you get to know new and more of the whole structure that represents Mondi´s Information Management.

How do you explain to your family or friends what you do at Mondi?

That I am responsible for the Intranet at Mondi. I solve technical problems for the people using the platform and assure the quality of the system. Since planetmondi plays a big role in employee communication, I help people communicate better and solve the problems that occur in the system.

Do not stress over things you cannot control. 

What’s been your greatest challenge?

To get an overview over all the things that Mondi does. You learn something new every day that adds to a bigger picture of the company. It is a challenge to find out who is responsible for what and whom you should talk to about certain topics.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever got?

“Do not stress over things you cannot control.”

What does your future career path look like?

Since I am still in education, I don’t 100% know where I will end up at Mondi. There are so many different departments and interesting jobs offered.. However, Information Management is my passion and therefore probably something along those lines.
